Health Dept staffing must meet New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services (NJDHSS) regulatory standards. MCRHC fulfills that requirement.
Our current staff includes a licensed Health Officer (HO) and eight Registered Environmental Health Specialists (REHS) who all take required continuing education courses throughout the year. The HO serves as Administrator and Chief Operating Officer and, as such, oversees all aspects of the day to day functions. The HO also is the final authority on matters of public health prevention and enforcement activities. The REHS staff perform inspections and enforcement activities as well as serving as consultants to the various local government agencies, businesses and citizens who have need of services such as food sanitation, environmental concerns, inspections of wells, septic systems, pools and beaches and school and daycare immunization programs.
A resident staff Epidemiologist, shared with six other municipal health departments in Monmouth County is responsible for monitoring reports of communicable disease. This includes investigation services in conjunction with the State Health Department. The Epidemiologist also works closely with area hospitals and other health care facilities on prevention and reporting matters.
A resident staff Public Health Educator also is shared with six other municipal health departments in Monmouth County. The Health Educator offers programs on topics such as hygiene, disease prevention, and lead poisoning as well as providing instruction on other health related topics to a variety of audiences and age groups.
The four person administrative staff supports the professional staff as well as maintaining many of the required recordkeeping, clerical, ordering and scheduling functions necessary to a smooth and successful operation. Each member of this staff is cross-trained to assist on surge issues.
Public Health Nursing Services are provided through the Visiting Nurse Association of Central Jersey. These include oversight of nursing services and direct field services including home visits and clinics.
MCRHC also has other required support services available on an “as needed” basis including physician consultation, information technology, public health planning, fleet maintenance and facilities.
The coordination and close interaction of all of these resources enables MCRHC to be an effective provider agency in support of our 24 member and contract municipalities. The overarching Public Health Mission of planning, prevention and enforcement is always in our focus. Success is measured by the well being of our citizens.
